Heating with Wood Gas

Earl's News & Views Posted on 2018/10/07 by Earl Liverseed2019/02/08

I have developed a way to get up to 5 times more heat from your wood stove.  A stove can be changed to a wood gas burning unit.  I enhanced the burn chamber to burn hotter and hold the heat using thermal mass and the secondary burn chamber burns hotter faster.  This allows you to burn soft wood slower and hotter.  4 to 5 small pieces of of spruce can heat your house for 6 to 8 hours.  Hard wood has kept my house warm for up to 12 hours.

The DIY cost is less than $40 to $100 and 4 hours to make the conversion.  Your pay back is 1 to 2 months of wood buring.

The main chamber fire brick is replaced with Heavy 9 X 4.5 X 2.25 brick. It can be cut with a tile saw or angle grinder.  If using an angle grinder, soak the brick in water first, let it dry before burning.  Note the Angled corners should be on both sides if possible to keep the coals in the center of the burn chamber.

The upper burn chamber should also use the heavy brick horizontally, fill in the sides with old brick.  The object is to reduce the size of the secondary burn chamber.  This increases the off gas burn temperature to get a clean hotter burn.   Over the last 2 years I have burned 3 bush cords to keep my 2,000 square foot home.  Less work, less wood, less costs.

I have been told this is impossible.  If so why does it work.  Any questions call me 613 338 3440  or email at Earl@ele-on.com

First Rocket Stove for the home

Earl's News & Views Posted on 2016/12/27 by Earl Liverseed2016/12/27

I have been following the Rocket Stove development since 2011. This looks like the best so far. It is lite on the thermal mass component. It has merit for the future.

They ship to Canada.
